Hi! I’m Lauren Rochon, a Boston-based creative director and artist.
My work: begins with a dose of spontaneity, fresh cans of spray paint, and a blank skateboard deck.
The spontaneity has always been there. And spray paint has always been a preferred method of unfiltered expression.
But the skateboard deck - I didn’t see that one coming. An object built to move, ironically, became the perfect canvas to ground my work.
An iconic, familiar shape, rooted in movement and individualism. (And a little 90s nostalgia.) The shape stays the same, while everything around changes.
Each Mood Board is created differently, and inspired by a fleeting moment, vibe or mood. I like to explore these moments through contrast: fun in the ordinary, sophistication in the playful, vibrancy in the dark, humor in uncertainty. I follow an intuitive, choose-your-own-adventure process shaped by textures, loud color palettes, imperfections, and unexpected materials (fishnets on a skateboard, perhaps?).
Even though these boards are designed to hang on the wall, my work isn’t meant to sit still—or take itself too seriously. Need a change of scenery? Technically, you could add wheels and ride it straight out of your living room. I’d encourage it.
My background: I grew up between Montreal and New Jersey—two places whose culture and street-art energy still influence my work. And left me forever conflicted about bagels.
Outside of the studio (a.k.a my driveway), I’ve spent nearly two decades leading creative teams, shaping brand storytelling with the same blend of curiosity and creative consideration that fuels my art.
